BUDGET – BIGGEST NEGATIVE TRIGGER IN LAST 10 MONTHS … IS IT ? ? ?
Trading levels 1st / 5th February 2021
I am writing first time in 2021. I took off in December 2020 due to personal reasons and the COVID hit me in first week January 2021 putting me in hospital for 14 days. NOW I AM BACK HOME AND RECUPERATING.
We will have budget presented on Monday 1st February. I am afraid that this budget is going to be a maha big accounting exercise by considering all rosy projections for FY22.
If one takes govt forecast for GDP as 11 % for FY22, considering a cut of 7.5 % for FY 21 …. It will be only 3 or 4 % more over 2020 GDP. THAT’S A HARD FACT !!!
THEN HOW CAN BE TAX REVENUE BUOYANCY BE 15/20 % OVER FY20 LEVELS ??? it could be at best 8/10 %.
Government has milked the petrolium sector to the hilt thus showing 48 % higher excise collection. NOW MAY BE THE TIME FOR CIGARETTES AND SOME SPECIAL COVID TAX ON PERSONAL AND CORPORATE INCOME TAX. This tax/ cess can be as high as 3 to 5 % depending on your tax bracket.
IN THAT CASE, WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO CORPORATE PROFITABILITY AND THE NIFTY EPS PROJECTIONS BASED ON WHICH MARKET IS RUNNING FAR AHEAD OF FUNDAMENTALS.
I EXPECT SOME SERIOUS CORRECTION TO SET IN AFTER THE BUDGET AND WE MAY TEST LAST MARCH 2020 HIGHS AND GO EVEN A BIT LOWER TOWARDS 12000. That is the potential damage the budget proposals can cause.
During the correction please try and look at following stocks from long term investment angle.
DIVIS LAB ( 3000/3200 ) BRITANNIA (3300/3500)
HUL (2000/2100) ASIAN PAINTS (2200/2300)
DON’T MISS GOLD AROUND 1750 DOLLAR LEVEL.
MORE AND MORE INDIANS ARE NOW LOOKING TO DIVERSIFY BY INVESTING OUTSIDE INDIA AND ALSO IN PHYSICAL ASSETS LIKE GOLD AND SILVER. KEEPING THAT IN MIND, I HV STARTED GIVING WEEKLY LEVELS FOR US INDICES / GOLD AND SILVER. I HOPE THESE WILL BE USEFULL.
